All you gotta do is click on the people and drag them to the station they want (it says above their head) and you need to to clean some stuff and rub massage oil on them etc. You get a certain amount of customers per day and you need to make a certain amount of money per level to progress. The further you get the more equipment you have and the grumpier the people get - you need to keep them happy ^^ It's fun, but I haven't beaten the last levels yet.

Burger Restaurant

Same concept as the one above but now you have to bring people what they ordered (it's on their thought bubbles) at your restaurant. It's tons of fun and the graphics are cute ^^. Society's concept of nutrition and the biochemical processes of energy production in our bodies is incredibly wrong. Yes. Wrong.

It's not fat that makes you fat. It's carbs. I know it sounds like a load of BS and I myself was priding myself with banners like "I heart carbs" but it's the truth.

The techno-babble:

Basicly, carbs get broken down into glucose (single sugar molecules) and that stuff is one of the many things we need in our body. Our cells can burn it for energy. It's needed mostly in the brain but also in some organs and other places. Glucose gives fast energy, and we all know that. We learn that in school. That's why we are urged to eat loads and loads of it!

If only there wasn't the issue of all access glucose being converted into fat. Yes. Fat.

See where I'm going?

And that is why all the fat you eat additionally to your high carb diet, gets stored along-side the carb-made fat. That is why low fat diets work in the beginning.

Now, when talking about low carbing most people immediatly say that it is unhealthy.

But it's not. The opposite is the case. The sugar industry only wants us to believe that so they can sell more candy, and ultimately more diabetis and heart medication.

I know, I know, big stuff, hard to wrap your head around when growing up with "carbs being good". I know, because I grew up with that as well. Just like everyone else.

Now. What happens on low carb diets? We eat lots of protein and fat.

Protein is needed for your muscles, for many organs and processes in your body. Access protein gets converted to fat as well but it doesn't get stored unless there's reason to.
The most important process with protein, though, is that it gets converted to glycose. Obviously not as fast as carbs (especially pure sugar) get broken down, but we don't need that, it's actually what makes us fat to begin with. Now those protein-made glucose molecules go and feed your brain and do all the other vital stuff glucose is needed for. As you can see, your brain still gets fuel. This process of protein conversion stops once you have enough glycose for those vital functions. Protein does not get converted to just to my glycose for fuel.

Fat is the main fuel. Also in the process of converting protein to glycose which happens in your liver. Now because we don't have glycose being burnt but fat, every single thing we do burns fat. Yes. Of course the fat we eat, but also the fat we have stored

Ketones and Ketosis: In the process of burning fat for energy (called "ketosis" that's why low carb diets are also often called "ketogenic diet") ketones, the by-products are released. These little fellas are amazing! They are little racers who get places faster than the normal fat cells so they are especially good when you exercise. Best thing is, they don't get stored. So if you don't use them, they leave your body through urine or through your lungs when you exhale.

Convinced already? If not, let me give you a summary:

- carbs = sugar which turns into fat which gets stored on your person; makes your body not burn fat cause there's no need for it

- protein = needed for muscles, brain, all sorts of other important stuff in your body. I think protein is the most important one, but it does need fat to do its job

- fat = your body fuel, also don't undeestimate the amount of vitamins and minereals that are in the fats we eat. Also, ketones are a big advantage.

Now, people say you need fibre and stuff, and they're right. But what kind of fibre is in processed carbs such as cakes, noodles, regular bread? Next to none. On a low carb diet you get your fibre from the green veggies, such as dark lettuces, broccoli, spinach as well as nuts and seeds.

There. :)

Sorry that I felt like writing an essay but I've been researching so much about this lately, that I had to put it down.

It's a whole new world for me but it shouldn't be, because this is how we ate 200+ years ago before processed carbs, in the shape of flour, and starch in the shape of exotic fruit and veg (such as potato, yes, I said exotic :P) came into our diet.

Anyhoo. If any of you feel like I was making some sense up there and you want to know more here are some links:

A blog by a low carb advocating Doctor very informative. He explains all the difficult processes in your body in a way stupid people like me can understand as well! xD

Low Carb Web Community So much info, stuff like recipes, advice, support.

and lastly, the book that got first Angel, and then me started: The Idiot-Proof Diet

I'm in my second week off carbs and I feel very good. My body is slowly adapting and with each day I feel fresher and happier. Any "sugar" cravings I'm having can be killed with eating protein and most importantly, decaf coffee tastes just as good with soymilk and some mascarpone! <3

btw, did I mention there are some natural sugar-free sweeteners, like splenda and stevia? ;-)

Bye Bye Carbses D:

Yep, I'm on the same diet Angel started a while back. It's Low-carb and a lot harder but also a lot easier than I expected.

I lost 1,5 kilos in week one. I don't really know if I have a target anywhere cause I don't have much to lose to begin with but I can feel the bits of belly- and upper-leg chub shrink, so that makes me happy.

Week 1 & 2, also called "induction" period, are not going so well with sports, though, cause I'm tired as hell after training. To be expected though, since my body is only burning fat and nothing else.

I have pretty bad sugar cravings every now and then, but it's getting less now.

Cooking from scratch is certainly awesome and I'm eating a lot more veggies now.

Once I'm done with week 2 I will slowly indroduce more carby food, such as fruit and oat meal.

I'm not sure yet if I'll stick with low carb for the rest of all times or if I'll switch to complexe carbs only (brown rice etc). I'll see how it goes and if I get tired of only eating flax seed stuff.

One good thing, though: I found plenty of low carb cake recipes!! :)

OMG a new post

I haven't written anything here in half a year o__O;

Okay, so what have I been up to?

Well, mostly smashing people over the head with sticks! I have officially quit Karate now and also stopped my clarinet lessons. I'm doing Kendo now so I have no time for other sports. I still go to the gym to my personal trainer but that's it. I have my first Tournament June 15th so wish me luck with that. It's the Dutch Kyu (low level/beginner) Championships so loads of people will be there. If anyone wants to come and watch me get beaten to a pulp lemme know, xD lol.

Other than that, not much has changed. We cook regularly nowadays, yes that includes breafast. Bentoing has been put on hold until I find some way to juggle cooking breakfast and lunch in the mornings. Also Angel still eats different food then me (I need more carbs) so it's a bit difficult.

Hmm summer is around the corner and I have the first 2 weeks of June off to lazy around (do some painting and some gardening but that's it ^^) hmmm what else?

Battlestar Galactica is pissing me off with its suspense and its long breaks!!!

Hmm I wonder if we can still go on a holiday this year or not.

Still sorta planning on Japan next year. have to get my arse into gear and learn some more Japanese... I keep forgetting everything I learned so far -____-;

You need to watch this

http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/

I'm not kidding, please watch it.

Every question I ever had about this world and our society, about religion, our culture, 9/11, Bush, money, the stock market, Television and all those things, is confirmed in this 2 hour movie.

I can't really comment much on it because It'd just be saying stuff that is also in the movie, but I know you guys are thinking mostly just like me so you will appreciate it.

Keep in mind, though, as obvious as most of this seemed to us, it is quite a huge shock, it's a hefty movie cause all those things are lined up and connected and it's a whole big load.

Anyhoo, if you watch it, I would love to hear your opinions afterward.

We're back!

I promise a full travel log will come soon, so far we're still jetlacked, really exhausted but ultimately happy (well except for the fact that we live in the Netherlands instead of in Canada xP)

So now, back to sleep xD lol

What kind of wizard/witch would you be?

I made up a thingy cause it's fun :D

- What would your name be?
- What country/place would you live in?
- What would your want be made of?
- Which school would you go to?
- If you went to Hogwarts, which house?
- Which classes would you excell in and which ones would you fail (if any?)
- Which animal would you bring and what would its name be?
- What shape would your patronous be?
- Would you play quidditch, and if yes what position?
- Would you be Prefect or trouble maker?
- What would your signature spell be?
- Your favrouite means of travel? They dispatched their books too early. Of course a suicidal person has then proceeded to take pictures of every single page and post them on the internet. I say suicidal because they are now being sued and that means they will soon know what bankruptcy is.

That all would not be so bad if not countless of heartless morons who don't know what happiness is or liking something, have read the last pages and are now proceeding to spam every available internet community with the spoilers. Obviously I stayed away from everything, but that didn't stop the fucking JEUGDJOURNAL, the children's NEWS on the national television, to read the LAST SENTENCE from the leaked out book. Great. I dived for the remote control from the kitchen where I was doing the dishes but too late. I heard the first 5 words and that already told me too much.

And then this morning when I went to nu.nl a dutch news website, to look up what the weather is gonna be tomorrow morning, what stares in my faces on the front page? THE ENDING of HP book 7. Yes. A self fucking rightious moron wrote a column about how much he hates Harry Potter and to jerk himself off he proceeded to put the biggest spoilers in the title which was displayed on the front page.

Inside the column he justifies this deed with HP fans all being losers and that we deserve to be spoiled and that spoiling endings of books and movies is something he enjoys. Cause he's such a pathetic bloody fucking loser himself that the only thing that still gives him the kicks in this world is ruin other people's fun.

WHAT THE BLOODY FUCK???

It doesn't matter if you think HP sucks, you have every right to it. Tastes differ. However simply because you cannot stand something doesn't mean you have to go out on a fucking crusade, on bloody mission, to make sure you can hurt and upset as many people possible. People you see as lesser beings simply because they enjoy something. Just so you push up your own measly ego.

I'm sure that column will get nu in a lot of trouble and I'm sure it's not gonna stay there for very long. Unfortunately I have been spoiled now. The exitement of waiting and all that has been ruined by fucking impotent jerk who can't get it up unless he ruins christmas for little children.

Yes, as you might have noticed I'm extremely pissed.

...

OMG a POST!!!!

:3

I know my blog is dead and it might not get visited anymore ^^;

Anyhoo. So what have I been doing lately? Nothing much. Right now my mind is busy with getting ready for Canada and anything involved with that. Since Angel got her PC back from repairs we both got addicted to Sims2 again which isn't helping the least in the deaprtment of getting stuff done. Not to mention I have spent countless of hours playing world of warcraft which is all cartman's fault from South park cause he made it look so cool :3 Or shall I say kewl...

Oh and last night we had flash floods and stuff and our roof decided to leak massively. No fun at all especially since my little sis will be house sitting while we're in canada and I really don't want her to have to deal with that. Bad thing is, where do you quickly find a roof person during builders vacation after a BAD BAD rain storm that made many roofs leak? Unpossible I'd say D:

Oh and I bought a clarinet last month :3 It's so purdy and I loves it! So all that is going great and I also bought a keyboard oh and I have my next karate exam in September o__O;

ZOMG!!! videos :O

I want to share some of my fave Sigur Ros videos :3 yep :D So well yeah, no nice post of me but lol I have nothing to say xD hehe

Another, this one is so cute :D People will always stay children :D heh!

This one has kind of a sad message. :3

This one has stripey socks and gay boy love: xD

:D

2 years of Karate

... and I have achieved my first brown belt ^____^

Yay!!! :D

Fun and games

so yeah, I know I've been very absent blogwise. :3 I blame it on Maple Story. Yepp my newest game addiction. First of all it's free. You register and download the game from the website (about 80gB), install and then you create your own character. Then you start exploring the insanely HUGE (!) world that is Maple Story. The goal is to level your character up by training and hunting for monsters. Each killed monster gives you Experience points which in return help you gain levels and skill points. A nice part about the game is that you can choose professions. You can become a warrior/Knight or a wizard/mage, or a bandid/ninja or an Archer/hunter. Each job has their own clothes, weapons and abilities. Also since you play online, other people are all around you. You can chat with them or just say one or two things through a speach bubble system :) You can be in guilds and form parties (like fellowships, lol) where you benefit from each others' monster huntings by gaining EXP faster and also you can go on Quests for none-playable characters in the game which gives you items and EXP and money :D

The game is a real time RPG so you need to be a bit handy with your arrow keys since you gotta jump a lot but it's all in 2D which makes it easy on your computer and not so stressful on your eyes :)

Anyhoo. Give it a try if you like. When you DO sign up, make a character on the Broa Server/World since that's where my characters are and then we can play together :D

Goodbye 2006

My Highlights of 2006:
- learning to play clarinet
- earning my blue karate belt
- spending time with my family
- getting better at DDR

The Lowlights of 2006:
- All the fucking shit the US pulled again this year
- Global warming and people who make it worse and laugh in our faces
- Cool people getting sick and dying

Hopes of what 2007 will bring:
- a finished HOUSE
- an awesome wedding!!!!
- a lovely honeymoon! :D
- a contract
- me joining the orchestra

Fears of what 2007 will bring:
- USA attacking another country
- Use of nuclear weapons
- More death and destruction at the hands of capitalist facists
- no contract
- Warming of the globe at ultra speed

Fire and Hemlock

So this morning when I woke up I had bad cramps, from you-know-what and since there was a huge storm outside I dedicided to stay home. After Angel had left and I had kinda woken up I tried to read the last couple of chapters of "Fire and Hemlock" by Diana Wynne Jones but my cramps became so bad that I spent the next 2 hours in agony and puking my heart out because of the pain. It was really strange because I was at a point in the book that was really agitating. I didn't understand anything and all sorts of horrible thinsg were happening and all that kinda blended together with my pain so I had to stop reading and tried to sleep instead.

5 hours later I woke up feeling loads better and continued with the book. The more I read the less everything made sense and none of my questions got answered. In the end all was a giant ball of confusion and I was weak and hungry and still a bit sore and when I turned on the radio I heard that the very storm outside my house had spawned a Tornado in the city of London and all I could think of was that it was Polly and Tom Lynn who made it be there.

It wasn't until I Wiki-ed the book and found that Tam Lin was an actual story that I started to see what was happening. It now all makes sense. Reading Fire and Hemlock without the background knowledge I tried to fill all the gaps that should be filled with the Tam Lin story with my own weird interpretation and it made absolutely no sense and left me completely confused. I didn't really get the Tam Lin ballad lines in the beginning of each chapter either. Call me dull or whatever but I really didn't understand them and their connection to the story.

Anyways, I don't want to spoil anyone but find out about Tam Lin first before you read Fire and Hemlock and it will make more sense. I can really recommend it, though! :)

I think it's time for a new layout, no?

Long time no post. I seem to only ever write something when I want to complain. ^___^;

Anyhoo. So what's up in a Kuschi's life? Well it's really busy at work. I am really really enjoying my clarinet lessons and Karate is also going great. 3rd Kyu exams have been postponed until 2007 which gives me more time to practice. Our Gym is sadly also closed so it's gonna be flailing limbs about in my living room ^___^.

Other than that we're going to the Placebo Concert tomorrow night in Rotterdam and I hope not so many people will smoke in the audience. On a upside things seem to look up at work regarding the smoking policies. They have started placing smoker suction table machines everywhere. Those tables that come with an umbrella sorta roof with a uge ventilation system. I hope this means smoking will get banned to those areas only cause I'm really fed up with working with smoke all around me. I hate smokers, have I mention that? Oh but yeah, no complaining ^___^;

I've been going to the dentist a lot recently and I hate it so much. The dentist and assistent are really nice and they know how to handle people with dentist fear (= everyone) and it's not their fault. I just generally dislike lying there with my jaw pryed open for more than an hour having them rumble around on my teeth and dislocating me jaw joints. -____-; Today I had so much jaw pain I had to leave work early and missed probably the most important Karate training so far. *cry* I tried to stay but the more the anestatic wore off the more I wanted to just ram my head into a wall. I had to give up and that sucks so much cause I really really wanted to go train Kata Empi. It's a priviledge for a blue belt to get taught such a kata. *sigh* I really hope my sensei will let me join the followup training next week despite the fact that I missed today's training. I hate missing Karate even more than I hate having pain from the dentist. *cry*

Not to metion after all the exhaution from the dentist, cycling back and forth through the first freezing day of winter, the pain killers, the anestetic and a lack of sleep I fell asleep for 20 minutes on my desk, with a still open pen in my hand and my head on the keyboard. When I woke up I was so terrified that someone had seen me I didn't even notice that I had keyboard print all over my face. Luckily noone saw cause my door was closed and my colleague was out for lunch. It's a good thing I went home. There's no way I could have trained. Still sucks, though :3 :( When I came home I collapsed on the couch at 4 p.m. and slept 3 hours straight until Angel came home from her tap dancing class. I feel better now, have a good painkiller and tomorrow I have the day off to chill out and rest for the concert at night. :)

Other than that I'm really excited that they are making "FABLE 2". Fable is one of my favourite video games ever. I had the orginal for the XBOX but they released another version with extended content for the PC and I bought that one as well and played it through several times as well xD The game is so appealing to me because you have all options open. You can be anyone you wanna be and the decisions you make in life shape your character. Well you can't really be anyone because in Fable, you could only play a boy/man. That is gonna change in "Fable 2" so I can finally also play a girl :D yay!!!

So yeah anyhoo. Enough with the game talk. xD

Christmas is coming closer and we still haven't got many presents. We don't even have a clue really, what to get for most people. :/ Buying presents for 2 full sets of families is insane. Not just moneywise but all the planning and the secret finding out stuffs etc. Hard work! x3

Oh well, we'll survive. Two more weeks of work left!!! Wheee! :D

The World Cheers for Murder

I'm sure everyone has heard or read in the news this weekend about Saddam Hussein being sentenced to death by hanging. That in itself wasn't a big shock since he was purposfully tried in a court that can legally give out capital punishment. However, what shocked and disgusted me so much, was the international reaction not just by country leaders and ministers but also by people on the net or people in my surroundings whom I though to be well-educated, intellectual people. Everyone is cheering. Accept for Amnesty International and Angel, I have yet to hear someone raise a finger and go "erm... wait a sec".

Don't get me wrong. That asshole needs to be punished. Greatly. I had just preferred he'd by trialed by a UN court that recognizes the Human Rights according to the Human Rights Treaty.
I'm against death penalty and I won't make an exception just cause everyone around me screams it. I don't hate people who are pro capital punishment, it's their opinion however the one thing bothers me so much isthe hypocracy I saw the past 2 days in people who say they are against the death penalty, and yet for Saddam, they make an exception. That's a double standard. People say Turkey should not be allowed in the EU cause they still have capital punishment, however when the big evil gets it, then we'll have a party and we talk of justice.

If you're all for death penalty, great, fine you can have your party but those people who think the world is so black and white that they can shove all "evil" people in the exception bucket, gah... I'm really dissapointed. You cannot be against death penalty, and then make an exception. Then you are FOR it.

I can understand that his victims want him dead. That's a natural thing. Wanting revenge. I can't blame them.

However, the people who bother me so much, are people like our Prime Minister, the leader of a western country, publicly saying that "justice has been served" whereas we are supposed to be a civilized country and we have banned death penalty years ago. That pisses me off. And not just our prime minister. It seems everyone agrees.

Am I standing completely alone here?

I feel like this:
Especially someone like a dictator, being HUNG, with, I'm sure, the whole world watching, makes him the center of the world in the last seconds of his life. He will get all the attention, good or bad, that he doesn't deserve. He'll be killed so he'll be like a martyr. He doesn't deserve it. He will go with all that power. All eyes on him. And even if it's not gonna be on TV everyone will think of him when it happens and he will know that. His victims or their families will see him/ think of him. Hate thim. Fear Him. Feel pain in their hearts. That is power. And he will have it.

Now tell me, to a guy who wants nothing more than have power and sow fear in people's heart, if that sentence is carried out, he will die, doing exactly that.

If he had been trialed by the ICC or a UN tribunal he would have gotten a fair trial, sentenced to life and died as a tiny old man, all alone, with noone giving a shit.

Anyhoo that's what I think. And I need to believe in this justice system cause otherwise we might all just carry guns and shoot anyone we think deserves it. Cause normally, you don't shoot people, but this one guy he beat up your friend, so he deserves it...

*sigh*

Mankind is doomed. We are such fucking scum.

Spit Spot!

So I'm 1 chapter away from finishing off Mary Poppins Returns the second in the series of Mary Poppins books and man, I have to say I love Mary Poppins even more in the books than in the movie. I did like Mary Poppins, the character already a lot but I don't like Julie Andrews the actress. She has that "I'm so much better than you" thing about her. Eventhough I did like her as the character of Mary Poppins, it still bothered me a bit. Maybe it was all the smiling and the happy songs in the movie, I dunno.

However, in the books, Mary Poppins is just plain awesome! I love how she has such a kind heart but she hardly shows it. And she barely ever smiles, just slightly. And it totally cracks me up when she stops to stare at herself in the shopwindow for 10 minutes and then she yells at the kids for making her wait. Haha. But she has such kindness in her and she does really help the children and they go on such marvelous adventures.

Well, I love characters like her. Just as I love Bree van de Kamp and Mrs. Coulter, Lyra's Mother from His Dark Materials.

I don't know what it is, but I'm always drawn to characters like that.

Mary Poppins is still the least scary of them. :D

And I love how the books have so much mythology in ithem as well and how Mary Poppins is, I don't know... like a Goddess or something. Everyone knows and loves her. She must be hundreds of years old. And yeah, she's only strict to the kids, and boring people. She's kind to animals and other beings.

Cool. Well I think we need to order the other 5 books xD I hope she stays the same in all the books :)

Root Canals and Clarinets

On Friday I had my first Root Canal treatment. It hurt less than I expected so eventhough I was sore most of the weekend it wasn't nearly as bad as getting your wisdom teeth pulled. Also I'm happy I finally have a good dentist who will fix my teeth.

Tomorrow I have my first clarinet lesson. Yepp. I'm so excited I'm driving people around me up the walls. We'll see how it goes but I'm so happy that now I can be part of the world of my brother and sister. I could be angry at myself for not starting earlier but there's no point and everything needs to happen in its own time as well. At least I should be able to play with my family at christmas :D Whee! :D

Speaking of family, we're going to Berlin again on Friday, early enough for me to finally sit in my brother's Karate lesson. I'm really excited about that as well. And he is, too. :D Saturday will be family birthday with Bowling and all that and Sunday I'll finally show Angel the Zoo and/or Tierpark.

Other than that the number of bathrooms in the Tefkaak Mansion hase been reduced to 1 again. Although so far it's just an empty stripped down mess which shall be plastered next week. Another IKEA trip on the list :D

So yeah. That's what's happening in the life of the Kuschi at the moment. And can you believe I made peanutbutter cookies last week? :o woah!

Piracy - yarrr!

So now piracy is bad for the US economy:

U.S. economy losing more than $20B to film piracy

Sure blame it on someone else...

I'm not denying the damage that people do by SELLING illegal copies of movies and CDs but what do the authorities do? The go and arrest the kids that just download it.

Not to mention that CRAP they call legal downloads and copy control!! As a person who doesn't download illegal music I feel so fucking ripped off when I spend 15 bucks on a CD that I can't even play in my car CD player or that whines when I wanna put it on my iPod. What the fuck? I paid for it!!! Same with DVDs, some Disney DVDs wouldn't play in our old DVD player because of their copy control. And don't get me started on that 20 minutes preview/advertisment shit in front of the movie menu which I can't even forward or skip and that in PURCHASED DVDs!!!

And legal downloads are very often faulty, crappy quality and have so many bugs that you can't even play it.

And don't forget, with the enormous "quality" of nowadays rock/pop music and Hollywood films, it's just puzzling why not more people want to pay money for it. *rolls eyes* Both industries need to produce less shit!!! Seriously yesterday in the top 100 albums of all times, only about 10 were post 80s all the rest was older.

Get the hint. Too much, and too crappy!!!

Grrr... no wonder so many people don't buy that shite anymore...
