Another eventful weekend occurred... I had to let things sink in a bit before I could write about it. Anyway, last Thursday I went to Ikea to buy a new bed (this is the fun part of the story). Of course I ended up buying all sorts of other stuff as well and was dragging a big bag of stuff home. On the way back I didn't have enough strips on my strippenkaart to make it all the way back, but it was only two stops out of zone, so I figured I would just take the gamble. Of course I was checked one stop before the zone change and thus forced to get off the tram and walk the final two stops with my big Ikea bag full of crap we don't actually need. So I got back to work and picked up the stuff that arrived from Amazon (iDog, yeah, he's so cute!) and went home. Unpacked all the stuff, watched some 3rd Rock (also in the Amazon package), played with iDog and then it was time for bed. And then, for no apparant reason but maybe because of all the commotion and jealousy toward iDog, the dogs started fighting. Bad. We had to literally rip them apart, I could feel something tear when I dragged Homer away from Flat Eric. I didn't see anything right away on Homer so I told Dana that Flattie must have gotten hurt, in fact I could see blood on his forehead. She took him out to the hallway where Kuschi was waiting with the leashes. As I was checking Homer for blood (didn't find anything), Kuschi called from the hallway that we had to go see a doctor. I went to see Flattie and at first I just saw the gash in his head and thought it was still sort of okay, then I saw that his left ear was ripped in half. I fought the panic and started making phonecalls, emergency vet, taxi, that sort of stuff. Flattie was wrapped in a towel, bleeding all over the place and shivering. Dana stayed home with Homer en Kuschi and I rushed of to the emergency vet who turned out to be quite a quack. He wasn't nice to us, or gentle to the dog and seemed to think it was all not such a big deal. he stapled his headwound and said it couldn't be stitched because of the infection that is sure to follow. He said the ear should just heal like that and it would "give the dog character". Never mind that he was bleeding all over the place. He sent us back in a cab eventhough he had a car himself but couldn't be bothered to offer us and our bleeding dog a ride, instead he left us out in the cold waiting for the cab to arrive. Asshole. He said we needn't bother seeing our own vet in the morning, but I did anyway, as the ear wound was *still* bleeding the next morning and it was all swollen and stuff and really didn't look right. Our own vet looked at it for half a second and was preparing the dog for stitching already. So Flattie was put to sleep (so sad so sad) and I had to leave him behind to get patched up. Our vet also stitched up the so called unstitchable headwound and cleaned his teeth while he was it ("He'll get an extreme make-over"). I picked Flattie up in the afternoon, he was drowzy and confused but looked much better with his ear stitched back together. They put silverspray on it and now he looks like he's got borg implants. Flattie of Borg. One of Two. Borg Puppy.
Homer and Flattie made up and the Tefkaak household could finally get some sleep.

On Saturday the bed arrived, so we don't have to sleep on the floor anymore. Also, Kuschi bought me a new gameboy game called Zoo Keeper, which is fun and addictive, my goal is to have myself in all the slots of the high score list and then I will probably lose interest and go back to Mr. Driller.

It's cold.
